Hey everyone!
The last few weeks of November were hard. A family emergency caused me to miss a day in writing, and it all went downhill from there. I only have over 34,000 words. I didn’t reach 50,000 words, but why am I saying that I still won?
The whole point of NaNoWriMo is to write. Whether if it’s a hundred words or a thousand words, if you wrote something for NaNoWriMo, you’ve written more words than you have during the year. I now have over 34,000 words for a story that I love. It’s inspiring me to keep writing throughout the year. Unlike last year where I desperately wanted to win with word vomit, this year I realized it’s more important that I wrote something that I love and want to continue.
So I still won NaNoWriMo. I might not get the nice certificate, but at least I have a base for a story I want to write. I learned that writing everyday isn’t for me. I worked better when writing every other day, and I learned that having a plan is better than having none.
While participating in Blogmas this month (I finally caved and started calling it what is), I’ll be making more time to incorporate writing into my life. My characters have trapped my heart. I can’t let them wait for me, I have to chase them.
