Hey everyone!
On April 28, I participated in World Tai Chi and Qigong Day at my college. Unfortunately, the show didn’t allow for photos or videos so I can’t show you guys what we did. While it was a fun day full of activities and workshops, I ended up catching a cold. I think it was a cold. I’m not good with differentiating between illness when I’m the one who’s sick.
I don’t know about you, but I hate being sick. The itchy, scratchy throat and leaking nose are not my ideas of a fun time. I went home feeling like I had visited the Philippines and was still feeling like I had jet-lag. Fortunately, I had an amazing significant other who did his best to make me feel better. If you don’t have someone to cheer you up while you’re sick or you just like to seclude yourself when you’re sick (trust me, I know how that feels!), then I have a few tips to help get you through a sick day.
Drink tea // A bitter tea might help with the sore throat, but any tea would do. I always go for green tea as it’s considered a “detox” tea. I pretend that it flushes the heat away from my body as I drink it.
Wrap yourself up in a warm blanket // Don’t underestimate what a warm environment could do for you. Especially if you’re feeling like everything around you is freezing.
Take some medicine // Whether it’s a pill or a herbal remedy, taking something specifically for your illness can go a long way. I tend to take a pill the day I get sick or the day after because I want to get better a lot sooner.
Watch a new (or old!) show(s) // I ended up binge watching a few Psych episodes when I was in the midst of the worse part of my illness. Focusing on something else while feeling horrible helps me ignore how bad I feel.
Review what you want to do when you’re not sick // For some reason, some of the best ideas I get are when I’m in the shower or sick in bed. I try to jot down whatever thoughts come to mind when I’m lying in bed because almost 99.99% of what I want to do is important to me for one reason or another.
