F IS FOR FAILURE – A to Z Blogging Challenge

Hey everyone!

I’ve failed a lot of things in my life. From people to classes to practically anything you can think of (that’s reasonable, obviously), I’m not a stranger to failure.

I used to petrified of failing. It’s been ingrained in my head since I was young that failing is not an option. I can’t remember if I ever wrote about failing on my blog, but if you’ve ever felt your body tremble and your stomach roll at the thought of even failing, then you know what I had went through when I was younger.

It took years to get over that fear of failure. I’m much more relaxed about failure and use it as a building block to get better. Although, I now have a tendency to let myself fail rather than actually do my best. Going from fearing failure and avoiding it at all costs to being so chill about failing is not a good attitude to have.

My relationship with failure has always been extreme, but I wanted to figure out some healthy ways to change it. Here are a few ways I’m changing my relationship with failure.

  • Remind myself that failure is healthy, but not trying and being okay with failing isn’t
  • Ask myself why I’m okay with failing something
  • Make it easier for myself to do something rather than set myself up for failure
  • Ask myself if future me would be happy with present me’s actions

What’s your relationship with failure?
