Hey everyone!*
Marc Jacobs Beauty is a makeup line that I dismissed because:
1. it’s out of my price point
2. you basically pay for the brand
3. I’m already happy with what’s in my makeup stash
But I somehow got it in the mail so I decided to give them a try. I’m trying to write more thorough reviews which is why this post is so long. There are swatch pictures, an ingredients list, two attempts to use this product, and my final thoughts in this review. I might do a video review where I break down the ingredients and what they do, but that’ll come in the upcoming weeks.
Here is how they looked swatched on my skin. No prepping my forearm or anything like that. I swatched Uh-Huh Honey two times in the picture. Uh-Huh Honey looks like it has a brown color to it, but it might be because of my skin tone. Candy Bling had to be swatched about four – five times for it to show up like that color in the picture. The swatch picture was taken in natural lighting inside my household.

FIRST ATTEMPT
I did my usual lip routine: lip scrub and a lip balm. I gave it a few minutes to absorb before I couldn’t help myself and slathered on Uh-Huh Honey. Now here’s the first issue. The packaging is nice and sleek. I was confused on why it looked more like a lip stick than a lip gloss, but dismissed it as some aesthetic thing the brand had going on. I started to twist the lip gloss.
Since I didn’t read the card, I found out the hard way that you can’t retract the lip gloss. You read that right. You can not retract it. I saw some reviews on the Sephora website about how this could be a way to trick people from seeing how much product is actually in the lip gloss. It’s a reference to people who destroy makeup to see how much product you’re actually getting for the price. I’m pretty sure that’s the main reason for it, but all I could think about is the fact that people get barely any warning.
Most people don’t read the online descriptions and usually follow reviews, but some people buy in store and might not listen to the consultant about how to use it. Trust me, I ignore most of them except for the nice girl at The Body Shop who sold me almost the entire Vitamin E line after one demo.
After the disaster of making sure I didn’t twist it up anymore, the application itself was smooth. It practically glided onto my lips. It didn’t really feel hydrating, but instead felt like it was sitting on my lips like most lip glosses. It looked like a clear gloss with gold flakes on my lips. My true lip color may be too similar for the brown gloss to show through so my lips looked like I patted on some glitter for fun. It looked like a natural shine than the usual glossy look.
I went on my business for an hour where I watched some YouTube videos and did not touch my lips or any rigorous activity. I looked into a mirror and realized that my lips look cracked and normal. The lip gloss had disappeared off my lips and instead caused them to dry and crack. It was not a good look nor did it feel good. I wiped it off my lips and went for a second attempt later in the day.

The photos were taken in natural lighting in front of two large windows. While the photos on my instagram where I first showed some pictures have photo editing (with the edits written in the caption), these pictures have no editing in them. They may be brighter than normal as I do have white walls and used natural lighting through two large windows.
SECOND ATTEMPT
When I tried these a second time, I went for Candy Bling. It went a little better than my experience with Uh-Huh Honey, however there was still some problems. Candy Bling was more hydrating than the Uh-Huh Honey, but it still lasted about two hours on my lips. It did emphasized dry cracks when I did not do my lip routine. The lip color went on patchy so I had to apply Candy Bling several times to get it to the color it was in my pictures.
Trying again with Uh-Huh Honey yielded the same results as my first attempt. However, I decided to drink some water and eat a sandwich while wearing the product. I ended up transferring a fair bit of glitter to my water bottle and the lip gloss was almost non existent after eating.
Since I do live in a hot climate, Candy Bling practically melted in its case whenever I tried to use it. Uh-Huh Honey didn’t melt like Candy Bling, but it looked a little sad in the tube. The design of the lip gloss may be modern and grown up, but it makes it feel more like a lipstick than a lip gloss with its application.
THE FINAL RESULTS
Like I mentioned on the Sephora website, this was more of a lip balm than a lip gloss. The packaging is modern and sleek, but it does not retract so it’s inconvenient to those who want to see how much product is left and like to go heavy on the gloss. It disappears in about two hours compared to other lip glosses despite barely any activity. When there is activity (like eating or drinking), the lip gloss disappeared. There are better lip glosses out there that can do a better job than this. If you’re looking for something natural that you can reapply over and over again throughout the day, then it could be for you. However, I do not recommend anyone getting this product. Invest in something better than a natural lip balm disguised as a lip gloss.
