D IS FOR DEBUNKED – A to Z Blogging Challenge

Hey everyone!

If you feel like you missed a blog post, fear not. I’m being a sneaky sneak and posting different blog posts on one day because I decided to attempt the A to Z Blogging Challenge this year.

This post contains spoilers for Miraculous Ladybug and Saiki K. Proceed with caution.

D for debunked is not about me debunking myths. Because let’s face it, I love a good supernatural story. But it’s going to be about my favorite debunked situations.

Yes, situations. Only two of them though because I’ll end up spoiling more shows than I should.

Miraculous Ladybug – Lila

If you don’t know about the kids’ series Miraculous Ladybug, I’d recommend the first season. Forget the rest of the show because it all goes downhill from there. It’s a show about a middle school girl who becomes the hero Ladybug with the help of a piece of jewelry and a small god. With her partner Chat Noir, they battle the villain Hawkmoth (or Papillion in French) to save Paris and keep their powers away from evil.

Lila was a character that was leaked during a con, if I remember correctly. But right now, I’m not digging too deep into that rabbit hole because the theories surrounding Lila were huge. Were we getting another love rival for Adrien, Chat Noir and Marinette’s civilian love interest? Was she going to be friends with the class or was she going to be a villain for one episode and only seen in the background? Season 2 and 3 blew everything out of the water.

I’m not going to be salty about Lila and what exactly happens in Season 3, but it’s obvious from the first episode we have with Lila that she was not going to be the good guy. Instead of being friends with Marinette, she becomes her enemy. Lila specifically targets Marinette because she sees through her tall tales. Although I’m not sure why Marinette needs another rival (she currently has three compared to Adrien who has no one), Lila becomes the rival I love to hate.

Why do we need another rival when the show is about girl power? Who knows, but I do know that Lila disappointed me after her initial episode. I thought after the “new friends” theory was debunked, we’d get a cool villian/rival on her superhero side. Instead we have someone who doesn’t get outed on her outrageous lies because of convenience. It doesn’t sit well with me. I blame the writing.

Saiki K – Saiki

Here is a personal theory that was blown out of the waters about the series Saiki K on Netflix. I haven’t read the manga, so I’m mainly focusing on the anime for this one. The series is about a psychic high schooler who is trying to live his life in peace.

I thought that Saiki would end up going on a date with at least one of his love interests in the series. However, I was proven wrong when season 3 dropped. It only has two episodes. Two. I thought it was a mistake, but oh boy was I not prepared for season 3.

Season 3 is the end of the series. And it ended on a cliff hanger. We never see who Saiki chooses, but we do see him make a life changing decision which may not have actually done anything. Poor guy.

What’s a theory you had that got debunked?
